Hello, I start to read my first book in English. The book is „About a boy“ - maybe you know it already. If not take your chance and find out some new interesting things here in my blogg.Enjoy reading my entries!

1.) Why did I choose this book? And how was my first impression of it?

I chose the book about a boy, because I thought this book will be interesting for me. This is my first English book, and I`m excited to read it.

When I read the first chapter, I was surprised that I actually understood a lot of words. Of course there are also words or sentences which I was confused about. I translate sometimes some words which I don`t understand. But sometimes the words are self-explanatory in the context of the sentence. The first chapter is really short, it has just four pages. The chapters below are also really short. I like this because the action in the chapters changes quickly. So if you don’t like the temporary action in this chapter you are looking forward to the next one. The content is good, interesting and also funny. So I’m looking forward to read the following chapters. My next blog will come soon.

2.) With some phrases I got problems to understand them because i didn`t understand the keywords! So, now i going to try if I`ll find out theme.

For example (p.3.)"You wouldn`t believe that so much could change just because a relationship ended, but he wasn`t bothered(1)"  My translation for the marked word is: he wasn`t afraid because of the first part in the sentence "you wouldn`t believe that". (1)To be bothered by sth. that means for example: the old guys  going to be bothered about the young neighborhood because they makes always big noises during the night. 

(p.9.)"The two of them sat there with an expectant(2)smile on their face, as if he were about to leap to his feet, burst into tears and wrestle them to the carpet in a euphoric embrace(3). I thinking about the german word for facial expressions but I didn't find a good one to match it. is not a lovely smile more an angry one I guess. The translation from the dictionary clears me up  about my wrong guess. You can explain this word maybe with a example with a dog. (2)When the dog wants something from his owner he has a expectant   look in his eyes. I find the third word quickly out because it`s has almost the same meaning than in French. (3) your girlfriend get back from the holidays after one month. she`s coming back and you`re going to pick her up at the airport. First you`ll kiss her and in the second time you take her in your arms and you embracing her. 

3.) Will is going to meet Rachel. What is going to hapen with his alleged son Markus? What is going on between Rachel and Will?

Will met an interesting woman named Rachel. Rachel has a son in the same age like Marcus. But Will actually never said that Marcus is his son.

He got a date with Rachel but for it, he had to come with Marcus. Will tries to explain Marcus why Rachel thinks he is his son, but Marcus can not really understand. Doesn`t mater, Marcus is going with Will to Rachel`s house. Rachel is surprised to see them. They put Marcus in Alistair’s room, who is a son of Rachel. But they knew each other already from school. Alistair was really angry about him and told him really bad words. This was to much for Marcus, he left the house and walked away. Will notices that Marcus left and follows him. He caught him up at the bus station close to the house and told him that Alistair is crying because of him. They return to the house. The reason that Alistair was so angry of Marcel, is because he was still afraid seeing his mom starting a new relationship. But Rachel really likes Will and explains to Alistair that he has to be nice to Marcel. So he has to appologize  for the bad words he told him. Marcus enjoys the situation and is happy again.

4.) What kind of guy is Will actually? And how is his lifestyle look like?

Will is a man who doesn`t like to have a lot of resposability. He never worked and this is the reason he never learned to take up responsibility. With this twelve year old young guy called Marcus, he learned slowly to get more responsibility. And he got a lot of new living experiences with him.

Marcus is a poor young child. Because he has always to wear uncool clothes. His mother is also strange. Marcus doesn’t have any friends at school. And his classmates bully him all the time.

Marcus looks up to Will, because he was a cool guy. Marcus lacks people in his life who can give him good advice for live in school and beyond.

I think these two guys match well because Will didn`t have any jobs in his whole live. And now he has to look for Marcus and can learn to take care about him. It`s maybe the first time in his live he is doing some helpful things.

5.) How is Will’s personality and  wich role does he take in the book?

Will is the leading character. He is idle, and he does not have a lot going on during the day. He really likes to sleep in, in the morning. In his whole life he didn`t go to work, because his father was an famous musician. So he inherited enough money for his whole life. Therefore, he has enough time watching TV, flirting around with women and shopping. Actually he doesn`t like children too much. But the kids like him. With time he accepts this and enjoys spending time with them. He has to do this also, because he always meets women who have children.

He visited a group of single parents. He came up with a story, that he has a two year old son and he got separated from his wife Paula. So he is a liar. He did that just to meet some new single mothers. And he is really often also a lucky guy in this game. He isn`t the smartest guy but he knows how to chat up a woman.

6.) Marcus isn`t very popular at school. And his two friends left him, because they are affraid to get bullyed from other kids. Will Marcus be able to change his reputation at the school?

Marcus is actually a poor child because he hasn`t any friends. And he has a wierd mom who has a strange way of living. The children in his school always bully him because of his outfits and also because of his weird mother. She isn`t realy the right person to help Marcus to get out of bullying. Once in the morning she drives him to school. And when he was standing in the middle oft the school yard, she shouts to him that she loves him. So this was one more reason that the schoolchildren made fun of him. Marcus is really sad about the situation. But he doesn’t now what to do with these bad classmates.

What is Marcus going to do in this bad situation? I think it is not easy for him to get out of this circumstance. Because his mother is a little bit strange, it`s a hard situation for him. Maybe he will find again other kids who like him and who want to spend time with him. Or he has to change school or even not going to school anymore at all in order to not get bullyed anymore.

7.) Will and Marcus how they match  together?

I think this two guys are a good combination. Will is a cool guy who doesnt have any responsibility. Marcus is the poor guy with a strange mother. These two guys have actually two complete different peronalitys. But  Will shows him during the time appreciative for his situation. And is going to help him, to get out of his bad situation. In the first time Will doesnt have a really god handling with children. But with the time is going to learn much about it with him. They going to meet each other from day to day better. And the routine of the day changes also. Will takes care of him and he has also more activities now during the day. Markus has find his cool friend. Who he looks for, I think Will is also an alternative for his father who he doesn't see so often.

8.) Whats my conclusion about the book? Will I ever read a English book again?

It was an interesting and enjoyable story. It was a interesting content. But at some points it wasn`t so exciting. At some area my consetration wear off and I got a lack of understding.Before I start reading the book I was a little bit affraid that I dont going to understand that much. But fortunately I undestood a lot. This was also a reason that I was more motivatet to continoue reading the book to the end. It was a really good experience to read a book in English is actually a interesting way to improve my English.
